Paul Burton to Lead Dragonfly Workshop

A wide variety of specialty hikes are featured throughout July at The Ridges Sanctuary. Discovery Bird Hikes will be held on July 11 and 18 at 6:30 am, while those wishing to sleep in a bit can opt for a Not-So-Early Bird Hike on July 18 at 9 am. Both hikes begin from The Ridges Marshall Cabins, 8288 County Q in Baileys Harbor. Hikes are free for Ridges members and $5 for the general public.

Photography buffs and beginners can enjoy a Photo Ops Hike on July 15 at 1:30 pm. This naturalist-led hike departs from the Cook-Fuller Center and allows extended time to photograph the beautiful blooms along the trails. Fees are $5 for Ridges members, $8 for the general public and free if under 18.

Paul Burton’s popular Dragonfly Workshop returns July 17 at 9 am. Spend the morning outdoors with Dr. Burton, capturing and identifying a variety of dragonfly species. Meet at the Cook-Fuller Center. Fees are $10 for Ridges members, $13 for the general public and $5 for children under 18.

Interested in what it takes to manage a marina? The Baileys Harbor Marina will be the focus of a two-part program on July 16. At 3 pm, a walking tour of the Baileys Harbor Sediment Transport Study Area will be led by representatives from W.F. Baird & Associates. The walkabout is free and will highlight areas that were the focus of the Sediment Transport Study conducted by Baird beginning in 2014. At 7 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall, Baird representatives will discuss their findings and the subsequent report on the management of the Baileys Harbor Marina as part of The Ridges Lake Lessons Speaker Series.
