Paul Santoriello Wins First in Pesto Festo for Mojito Pesto

The Taste of the Garden Door and Pesto Festo were celebrated on Sept. 12 at the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station just north of Sturgeon Bay on Hwy 42. More than 300 visitors shared the experience and visited various gardens, toured the grounds, tasted vegetables from the garden and other culinary delights.

Winners of the Pesto Festo contest are: First Place – Paul Santoriello for Mojito Pesto, with the main ingredients of basil, parsley, mint and lime; Second Place – Ken Lambert for Kale Caesar Pesto with basil, Italian parsley, and tarragon; Third Place – Mike Zolnosky for Paradise Pesto with basil, pineapple and macadamia nuts; Most Creative – Carrie Sherrill for Door County Mixed Herb and Fruit Pesto with mixed herbs, cherries and apples; People’s Choice – Wendy Woldt for Berry Sun Sugar Pesto with sun sugar tomatoes, pecans and cranberries.
