PeaPod Homes LLC, a newly established tenant company in the Door County Economic Development Corporation’s business incubator, is forging ahead in the nationwide race for greener homes.
Organized in January 2008 by three partners, Van B. Krzywicki, Kathleen Lugosch Architects Inc. and Mark Rittle, the company has already received recognition throughout the state, as well as the country, for their innovative design concept for homes that achieve dramatic energy reduction usage. PeaPod Homes placed as one of 51 semifinalists in Phase 1 of the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Technology Council in February 2008. In March, they also took second place and “crowd favorite” in an elevator pitch competition sponsored by Wisconsin Entrepreneur’s Network. Scoring again on the East Coast, PeaPod Homes™ placed as semi-finalists in the prestigious Ignite Clean Energy competition sponsored by MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.
Through advanced computer models of ultra-efficient, patent-pending, passive solar kit homes, the company is offering the whole package for a truly “green” home. Supported by a complete service fulfillment model, PeaPod Homes has integrated multiple energy saving steps into a performance-engineered core package, simplifying the path to a Zero Net Energy future. While optimizing thermal performance, PeaPod does not sacrifice aesthetics or functionality. Engineered for performance and designed for living, each core model is designed for further expansion, allowing the home to grow with the customer’s needs.
