Pen Park Celebrates Free Fishing Days

The Wisconsin DNR is celebrating free fishing days and park open house weekend on June 7 and 8. On these days, anglers do not need a fishing license in most Wisconsin waters, and park visitors do not need a vehicle sticker.

Peninsula State Park is luring visitors to the Nature Center with a special 600-gallon aquarium, which will be on display Friday afternoon through early Monday morning. DNR Fisheries Biologists will stock it with smallmouth and rock bass, as well as other native species. On Saturday, park naturalists will offer free activities like up-cycled water bottle fish art, learning to cast with a rod and reel, and knot tying.

The Peninsula Nature Center loans basic fishing rods year round, and this is the perfect weekend to drop a line at the Weborg dock. For more information call 920.854.5976.
