Peninsula Chamber Singers Begin Spring Rehearsals

For anyone wishing to sing, the time has come! The Peninsula Chamber Singers’ first practice – and also the first chance to join the group for the spring concerts held Mothers’ Day Weekend – will be Monday, February 22, at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, on Michigan Street at 9th Avenue. Registration and social hour will begin at 6 pm followed by rehearsal at 7 pm.

Led by artistic director Merle Colburn and accompanied by virtuoso pianist David Beck, the Chamber Singers’ repertoire ranges from show tunes to spirituals to sacred music to works of the leading contemporary composers and arrangers. Singers of virtually every level of accomplishment and training join in practice every Monday night for 12 weeks leading up to the performance weekend. Practice sessions alternate between the Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor Methodist churches, and many members car-pool from locations as far north as Gills Rock and south to Algoma and beyond; so transportation should not be an issue.

The Peninsula Chamber Singers is a self-supporting volunteer choral group that entertains Door County audiences with their twice-a-year Christmas and spring concerts. Membership in the group costs $20 for each season, and includes all music.
