Peninsula Music Festival Awards Isaiah Spetz with College Scholarship

The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) has selected Isaiah Robert Spetz, a senior at Sevastopol High School, as the recipient of its college scholarship. Spetz will attend New York University to pursue a major in Musical Theatre and a minor in Music.

Each year the Peninsula Music Festival awards a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The recipient must be an outstanding music student who has demonstrated his or her ability as a performer and has shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college.

“The [PMF Board of Directors Education Outreach] committee was so impressed with Isaiah’s essay and accomplishments,” said PMF Executive Director Sharon Grutzmacher. “He is an extremely confident young person who will go on to great things.”

The Education Outreach Committee had a hard time making their decision this year due to the high caliber of the applicants. The committee decided to make a one-year award of $1,000 to Sierra Sargent, also a Sevastopol senior. Sargent plays multiple instruments and has excelled at everything musical. She will attend UW-Stevens Point for Music Education.

Both Spetz and Sargent, along with their families, will be honored at the Aug. 12 PMF concert. For more information call 920.854.4060 or visit musicfestival.com.
