Peninsula Players Announces Upcoming Play Readings

Peninsula Players Theater will present in-person and virtual audio recordings of recent works by playwrights Kristine Thatcher and Sean Grennan as part of its winter play reading series, The Play’s the Thing

A reading of Thatcher’s The Safe House will be performed March 7, 7 pm. In 1982, Bridget returns home to Lansing, Michigan, from New York City, where she gets by as an actor. Although she longs for a comfortable stay with her grandmother, what she finds is a family struggling with change. The show can be heard virtually beginning at the time of the performance and ending March 8, 7 pm.

Grennan’s A Rock Sails By will be performed April 4, 7 pm. The play features Lynn Cummings, a troubled astrophysicist who is shaken when a strange object from outside of our galaxy heads toward Earth and calls into question her belief about what’s out there. The play can be heard virtually beginning at the time of the performance and ending April 5, 7 pm.

Both readings will also be presented in person at Björklunden, 7590 Boynton Lane in Baileys Harbor. In-person attendees must be fully vaccinated (including eligible boosters) and wear a mask at all times. Staff members will check proof of vaccination, photo identification and tickets at the door. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Both shows have a capacity of 80 patrons, and advance registration is required by calling 715.718.0347. You must also register in advance for the virtual audio reading at onthestage.com/peninsula-players-theatre.
