Partnering with the Door Community Auditorium and Third Avenue Playhouse, Peninsula Players will bring short-run professional entertainment featuring Players company members to Door County in the off-season.

Peninsula Players Presents will showcase Players veteran Kevin McKillip at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay Jan. 14 and 15 with his one-man show, Will Rogers: An American Original. Set in 1934, the production re-creates the look and feel of one of Will’s famous “lecture tours,” featuring Will alone on stage, performing his legendary rope tricks while offering his insights on politics, the economy, society, prohibition, polo, health care, and chewing gum.

McKillip recently performed in The Importance of Being Earnest, A Few Good Men and God of Carnage. Tickets are available through Third Avenue Playhouse by calling 920.743.1760 or visiting http://www.thirdavenueplayhouse.com.

Feb. 4, Baby Wants Candy, featuring Players favorite Erica Elam, will improvise a musical on the spot at Door Community Auditorium as part of Fish Creek’s Winter Fest. Baby Wants Candy has performed over 1,700 completely improvised musicals to sold-out crowds from Singapore to Edinburgh. Community members submit titles of musicals that have never been performed before. The first title drawn from a hat becomes the title and theme for that evening’s completely improvised 60-minute musical that Baby Wants Candy creates on the spot, accompanied by piano. Members of the community are invited to email titles of musicals they would like to see improvised to [email protected].

The show will open with a brief, improvised performance by Door County students. Tickets are available through Door Community Auditorium by calling 920.868.2728.
