Peninsula Players Conducts Seminar Series

Peninsula Players Theatre continues to expand its popular series of public seminars as part of its growing community outreach programming, beginning with a July 19 writing workshop led by Players favorite Tom Mula.

Mula, a long-time Players actor and director and author of the plays Bob Almighty and Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, will lead a writing workshop and read from his work on July 19 from 2:30 – 4 pm in the Players’ new theatre. Writers and non-writers of all levels are welcome and encouraged to bring pen and paper.

On August 2, award-winning Players costume designer Kärin Simonson Kopischke will take attendees through the process of costume design, featuring her work on the Players production of The Lady’s Not for Burning (set in the 1400s, and running from July 30 to August 10 at the Players) and other productions. Kopischke will discuss rendering techniques and display design research, renderings and photos of realized designs.

Additional workshops through October will be announced later in the summer; however, tentative topics for the remainder of this season include clowning, Shakespeare, combat, directing, haunted houses, Holmesian history, masks, and a preview of The Big Read. Holmesian history will be presented in conjunction with the Players’ fall production of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure by Steven Dietz, adapted from the original play by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and William Gillette.

The events are free of charge and open to the public but reservations are required. Space is limited to 50 people for each event. Call the box office at 920.868.3287 to reserve your spot.
