Peninsula Players Host Agatha Christie Scholar

Peninsula Players Theatre, in conjunction with its production of Agatha Christie’s whodunit The Hollow, will host Christie scholar Christopher Chan on July 23 at 6:30 pm. Tickets to performances are available, admission to the pre-show seminar is free.

Chan, a Lawrence University graduate and Agatha Christie website editor, will speak about Christie’s career and her challenges with her characters. Chan earned his Ph.D. in U.S. history from Marquette University. He also earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree from UW-Milwaukee last fall. He works as an International Goodwill Ambassador for the official Agatha Christie website. He also writes for the magazine Gilbert, which specializes in book and television reviews, in addition to writing historical and critical essays on Agatha Christie’s work.

The Hollow was published in 1946 in London and in the United States under the title Murder after Hours. It was the 25th appearance of her popular character Hercule Poirot. However, Christie was not fond of her creation and did not include him in the stage adaptation. Chan will discuss this and other fun Christie facts.
