Peninsula Players to Host Final Play Reading

Peninsula Players Theater presented a reading of Salvage by Joseph Zettelmaier at Björklunden on March 6 to an audience of more than 100. Salvage was produced as part of The Play’s the Thing, a winter series of play readings organized by Peninsula Players Theater.

Participants and audience members enjoyed the evening’s performance by Peninsula Players company members Matt Holzfiend and Melanie Keller. Keller originated the role of Sarah in Salvage’s world première at First Folio Theatre. The cast was under the direction of Peninsula Players Artistic Director Greg Vinkler.

Salvage is a new romantic-comedy-mystery-drama set in a collectible’s shop in contemporary Detroit featuring two quirky characters who become romantically entangled while working together to sell unique and valuable items. Zettelmaier is an award-winning, Michigan-based playwright and four-time nominee for the Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Award for best new play.

Salvage was the second of three readings of The Play’s the Thing. Peninsula Players will host its final reading of Miss Holmes by Christopher M. Walsh on April 3 at 7 pm at Björklunden.
