Peninsula Players Theater will kick off its free, annual winter play-reading series, The Play’s the Thing, in February at Björklunden. There will be no virtual option this year, so masking is encouraged but not required.
The first reading, by Christopher G. Smith, will be presented in conjunction with Door County Reads on Feb. 6, 7 pm.
In Painted Desert, a charming but possibly dangerous convict battles with a lost and wondering preacher over the fate of a young runaway on the American Painted Desert. The Door County Reads selection – Raft of Stars by Andrew Graff – and Smith’s play both feature young men whose lives are at a crossroads and landscapes that offer characters harrowing adventures and opportunities for contemplative introspection.
The Play’s the Thing will continue March 6, 7 pm, with Changing Channels by John Reeger; and April 3, 7 pm, with i by Jeff Talbott.
There is no admission fee for the series at Björklunden, 7590 Boynton Lane in Baileys Harbor, but donations are appreciated. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
