Peninsula Players Theatre presented a reading of Go Back for Murder by Agatha Christie, a thrilling whodunit from the Queen of Crime, at Björklunden on Feb. 2 to a full house. Go Back for Murder features Clara Le Merchant’s attempts to unravel the past and tragic fate of her parents; one was convicted, while feebly protesting innocence, of murdering the other. Clara learns of her legacy from her adoptive parents after she comes of age and seeks to grasp the death of her famous father, an artist. She interviews each guest from that fateful weekend and convinces them to return to the scene of the crime to relive her father’s last day in an attempt to find the truth.

Participating in the play reading were Peninsula Players company members, including Artistic Director Greg Vinkler, who also directed, Marilynn Bogetich, Erica Elam and Matt Holzfeind as well as Door County performers Amy Ludwigsen, Amy Ensign, Ross Dippel, Anne Herring and Mark Moede.

Go Back for Murder was the first of three readings of The Play’s the Thing, a winter series of play readings produced by Peninsula Players Theatre. Peninsula Players will host additional winter play readings at Björklunden. Chapatti is a new play by Irish playwright Christian O’Reilly and will be read March 2 and two yet-to-be-published one-acts will be featured April 6, I Shall Love you Forever by Kathleen Thompson and Waiting for Tina Meyer by Kristine Thatcher and Larry Shue. Both readings will start at 7 pm.
