Peninsula School of Art Looks Ahead

Bowls created for the 2012 SOUP! Benefit at Peninsula School of Art.

Peninsula School of Art invites the public to create bowls for the seventh annual SOUP! Benefit, scheduled for Feb. 2. Proceeds from the sale of the handcrafted bowls benefit Habitat for Humanity of Sturgeon Bay and Peninsula School of Art’s free children’s outreach programs. As in years past, the school will provide all the materials to make and decorate bowls from 9 am – 12 pm on Nov. 17, Dec. 15 and Jan. 5.

New this year is Rock ‘N Bowl Night on Nov. 28, 6 – 9 pm. This free event is for community members over the age of 21. While making bowls, the participants will be treated to libations and snacks courtesy of local restaurants. The event is designed to give adults a fun evening out while helping to serve their neighbors in need.

Continuing with the spirit of giving, Peninsula School of Art will collect items for the United States Marines’ Toys for Tots program. A collection bin will be placed at the Guenzel Gallery entrance until Dec. 13.

The school also invites the community to join Roger Bergen and Renee Schwaller in the ceramics studio on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6 – 8:30 pm, throughout the winter. Adult potters of all skill levels are invited for a fun, productive time of self-guided exploration of hand building and wheel throwing.

First time students are required to schedule an orientation session, and should call the school to set up a time.

Become a member of the Peninsula School of Art to qualify to join in the community clay fun. The fee is $15 per evening plus clay, glazing and firing fees, or save money and prepay for 10 sessions for $120.

Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 County F in Fish Creek. For more information or to become a member call 920.868.3455 or visit PeninsulaSchoolofArt.com.
