Painting by Ken Auster.

The offerings in the newly released 2010 Summer/Fall catalog for Peninsula School of Art, 3900 County Road F, Fish Creek, range from an unprecedented number of novice workshops to a plein air master class with preeminent painter Ken Auster.

In its 45th year, the art school provides instruction in all two- and three-dimensional media. In recent years, the non-profit school has emerged as a regional arts center, with nationally-recognized artist/educators leading workshops ranging from one to five days. In addition to respected local educators, among the new instructors for 2010 are: Cynthia Eid (metals), Claudine Hellmuth (mixed media), Mat Barber Kennedy (watercolor), Karin Kraemer (maiolica ceramics), and Cynthia Winika (encaustic).

The work of many of the instructors will also be included in themed exhibitions in the school’s Guenzel Gallery. Debora Oden, who is a professor at the Savannah School of Art and Design, will be leading a four-day printmaking workshop, entitled “The Narrative in Printmaking.” Her work will be included in Peninsula School of Art’s “The Medium is the Message” exhibition, opening in April. Book sculpture artist, Daniel Essig, will be teaching a workshop, as well as participate in and present a gallery talk for “The Book as Sculpture,” opening in August.

Also among the new course offerings is a three-day workshop with photographer Jennifer Hassrick which teaches parents and grandparents how to photograph their offspring in a natural way.

The studio for young artists catalog, for children aged three-and-a-half to 17, will be available in mid-April.
