For the first time in the 48-year history of Peninsula School of Art, a juried student exhibition will be on display in the School’s Guenzel Gallery. Entitled “Making Our Mark,” and on view from Aug. 23 – Oct. 5, the exhibition features 75 selected works that represent the artistic excellence of students who have attended adult workshops at the School since January 1, 2008. The artwork, which is for sale, includes jewelry, paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture and prints. To be eligible, a piece must not have been exhibited previously in Door County.
Cash awards will be announced during the exhibition’s opening reception on Aug. 23, 5 – 7 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
Peninsula School of Art instructors Bonnie Paruch, Bren Sibilsky and Dan Anderson acted as jurors for both selecting works and designating cash awards.
According to Anderson, almost a quarter of the entries were photographs. “Overall the submissions were very competitive,” he says. “But, the number and quality of photographic print entries provided a strong selection for that medium in the exhibition.”
Peninsula School of Art, open 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Saturday, is located at 3900 County F in Fish Creek. For more information, call 920.868.3455 or email [email protected].
