Peninsula Singers Announces 37th Season

The Peninsula Singers Artistic Director Merle Colburn invites new and veteran singers to the group’s spring rehearsals every Monday evening from 7 – 9 pm at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, Michigan Street at 9th Avenue. The spring concerts will be held on Mother’s Day weekend, May 7 and 8.

Music for the Singers’ 37th season includes the The American Spirit; a three-movement work by Mark Hayes; a medley of tunes from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage hits, including Phantom of the Opera, Music of the Night, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, Superstar, and others; the spirituals Here I Am, Lord, by Daniel L. Schutte and arranged by Ovid Young, and Good News, Chariot’s Comin,’ arranged by Moses Hogan. Also featured will be Praise the Lord in Song by Joseph Martin; the Shaker song Ye Followers of the Lamb, arranged by Edwin Ferguson, and In Remembrance by Eleanor Daley, a tribute to the late Grace Okkerse; piano accompanist to The Peninsula Singers in their early years.
