Peninsula Singers Begin Fall Rehearsals

The Peninsula Singers (formerly known as The Peninsula Chamber Singers) is a self-supporting volunteer choral group that entertains Door County audiences with their twice-a-year Christmas and spring concerts.

Led by artistic director Merle Colburn and accompanied by virtuoso pianist David Beck, The Peninsula Singers’ repertoire ranges from show tunes to spirituals to sacred music to works of the leading contemporary composers and arrangers. Singers of virtually every level of accomplishment and training join in practice every Monday night for 12 weeks leading up to the performance weekend: Saturday, December 11 at the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay and Sunday, December 12 at the Sister Bay Baptist Church.

The first practice, and the first chance to join the group, will be Monday, September 27 at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church located on Michigan Street at 9th Avenue. Registration and a social hour will begin at 6 pm followed by rehearsal at 7 pm. Membership in the Singers costs $20 for each season and includes all music (which remains the property of the group.)

Practice sessions alternate between the Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor Methodist churches. The next session will begin at 6:30 pm. Many members car-pool from locations throughout the peninsula.
