Peninsula Symphonic Band Plays Veterans Day Concert Nov. 11

The Peninsula Symphonic Band (penisulasymphonicband.org) will honor veterans with its annual Veterans Day concert Nov. 11, 7 pm, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay. Under Jason Palmer’s direction, the band will play the “Armed Forces Salute,” “National Emblem,” “Stars and Stripes Forever” and more. Pianist Sara Bong will join the band for Richards Rogers’ classic “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.” 

Bong of Baileys Harbor has enjoyed a long career on stage and behind the scenes. As VP and director of program development for MidAmerica Productions in New York City for more than 25 years, she created and administered hundreds of large-scale events at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and venues abroad. As a pianist, she has appeared as a soloist, accompanist and collaborative musician throughout the nation and overseas. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 16.

AMVETS Post 51 will present the colors at the beginning of the concert. Donations are appreciated to support Veteran Services of Door County and the Peninsula Symphonic Band.
