Pesticide Applicator Training Class Feb. 15

A Private Pesticide Applicator Training class will be held on Thursday, Feb. 15. Examples of private applicators include a farmer applying pesticides to his crops on his owned or rented land or an employee of that farmer doing the same; greenhouse or nursery workers making pesticide applications on the land or in the greenhouses of their employer. Certification is good for five years. You have the choice of either attending a classroom training or self-study. The classroom session will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, 9 am to approximately 3:30 pm, Peninsula Room (1st Floor), Door County Government Center, 421 Nebraska St., Sturgeon Bay. If you plan to attend this classroom session, you will need to pre-register at the UW-Extension Office by Feb. 8. The cost for the certification (includes manual) is $30, payable to UW-Extension (cash or check only). Door County office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm. 920.746.2260. If Door County’s class doesn’t fit your schedule, Kewaunee County’s training will be Thursday, Feb. 8, 9 am at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds Expo Hall, 625 3rd St., Luxemburg. To register, contact the Kewaunee County Office at 920.388.7141 by Jan. 31. Self-Study Option:  If you prefer to take the exam without attending the classroom session, you still need to register and pay the certification fee of $30, at least one week in advance and set up a time to take the exam at the Extension office. This option requires a higher passing score.
