Pesticide Applicator Training Course to be Held at Government Center

A Private Pesticide Applicator Training class will be held Feb. 14, 9 am – 3:30 pm, at the Government Center in Sturgeon Bay. This class is intended for persons requiring certification or re-certification in order to apply restricted-use pesticides. A private applicator is a person applying pesticides to produce an agricultural product (including forestry, nursery or greenhouse) on land owned or rented by the person or the person’s employer. Required for private applicators who apply restricted use pesticides. Certification is good for five years. If you plan to attend the Feb. 14 session, purchase the manual at the UW-Extension Office by Feb. 7. The cost for the pesticide manual is $30, payable to UW-Extension.  Lunch will be available at a cost of $5/person. The open book exam will start after the classroom training. Door County office hours are 8 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. For more information call 920.746.2260.

If Door County’s class doesn’t fit your schedule, Kewaunee County’s training is Feb. 7 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds Expo Hall. To register, contact the Kewaunee County Office at 920.388.7141 by Jan. 31.

If you prefer to take the exam without attending the classroom session, you still need to purchase the manual ($30) at least one week in advance and set up a time to take the exam at the Extension office.
