PET PEEVES

Is there something that really irks you, gets your goat, rubs you the wrong way, drives you up the wall, gets you bent out of shape, puts a stick in your craw, or makes you want to throw in the towel?

“Campaign ads are getting ridiculous. Choosing the people who will represent us and make the call on our society’s most important decisions has been reduced to the type of name calling and mis-representation that most high school freshmen would be embarrassed by. It almost makes one ready to give up on the process, and this comes from a guy who loves government and politics.” ~ Myles Dannhausen Jr.

“People who are Halloween party poopers. Come on, dress up! It’s FUN!” ~ Anonymous

“Single issue voters! Our world is more complex than boiling down your vote to a single, hot-button issue – whether it’s a stance on abortion, the death penalty, war, taxes, health care, etc. Please, as you head to the polls on November 2nd, make sure you are educated about ALL aspects of the candidate receiving your vote!” ~ Allison Vroman

“Vanity plates that make no sense except to the person driving the car.” ~ Madeline Johnson

“People who think that having their dog off leash at the state park somehow makes their dog better than mine. No, having a leash attached to their collar without you holding it does not count as having your dog leashed. You may think your dog is well-behaved but your never know what will happen when external forces are at play. As dog owners, we need to follow the rules to help prevent parks and other natural areas from banning dogs; the better job we do, the better our four-legged friends look to the community.” ~ Canine Crusader for Dog Friendly Areas

“Whatever I smell hiding under our deck…I’ll get you sooner or later, when my owners aren’t looking.” ~ Gizmo

“Dubai!” – Anonymous

“Huge spiders creeping around my cottage – not a fan. Awesome girlfriends who kill huge spiders with frying pans – a fan.” (Thanks Katie Gilbert!) ~ Sally Slattery

“The fact that the wild life preserve on Cove Road is fenced in. How are we helping animals by keeping them out, or forcing them to stay in? Surely the deer don’t understand that there are a couple openings in the fence at certain locations.” ~ Brittany Jordt
