Phil Hansotia will share his travel poetry as the Dickinson featured reader on Dec. 9, 7 pm, at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in north Ephraim.
Hansotia, a neurologist who retired from the Marshfield Clinic, moved to Door County in April 2004. He and his wife Marilyn thoroughly enjoy life and the community of Ellison Bay and Door County. Hansotia is a member of the Wallace Group of poets, and when he’s not writing he enjoys teaching children and adults how to write poetry.
Hansotia’s poetry primarily depicts people and travel. He prefers the role of observer and enjoys the exceptional in the ordinary as well as the ordinary in the exceptional. His publications include poems in the Wisconsin Poets Calendar and two chap books: Somewhere There and Looking for America. Phil’s poems have appeared in several anthologies and magazines, such as the Wisconsin Medical Journal, as well as in newspapers including the Peninsula Pulse and Marshfield News Herald.
On the second Wednesday of every month the Dickinson Poetry Series features a renowned local or regional poet followed by an open mic, providing an opportunity for others to read their poetry. Admission is free and a reception follows the readings. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in Ephraim. For more information call 920.854.7559.
