Whitefish Bay Farm Gallery begins its 26th season featuring work of photographer Leonard Quartetti and fiber artist Rosie Dittmann. This early summer exhibit will begin Saturday, May 24 and continues through June 30.

Leonard Quartetti, a self taught photographer residing in LaGrange Park, Illinois and Door County, favors the forests, fields, and shorelines of Door County and California. Quartetti, who works in both black and white, as well as color photography, has all new work on display for this exhibit. Best known for a soft, almost dreamy, feeling to his images, this exhibit features several bold and vibrant views.

“To capture a fleeting moment in time, a unique combination of light, atmospheric conditions, and serendipity is needed,” Quartetti explains. “To capture these moments has been an ever present goal since I was first intrigued by the camera and the printing process. The subtle changes in the quiet serenity of nature which occur with changes of light, texture, shape and form are exciting to recreate when tweaking the final print.”

Rosie Dittmann, a self taught fiber artist, resides in Door County. Dittmann, an accomplished handspinner and handweaver has found her artistic niche in her love of felting.

Fiber art by Rosie Dittmann.

“Taking carded wool fibers and felting them by hand or using a felting needle, allows me to create two and three dimensional work,” Dittmann states. “The use of color, the addition of different fibers such as mohair, alpaca, llama, or silk, and the fun of embellishing with wire, beads, buttons, handmade paper and found objects, gives me an endless source of new ideas.” This exhibit showcases all of Dittmann’s fiber talents – handwoven and handknit items (some with handspun yarns) as well as her felted pieces.

Dittmann will be sharing her love of felting during a Francis Hardy Center for the Arts Enrichment Series session scheduled for Thursday, June 19 at 2 pm at Whitefish Bay Farm Gallery.

Whitefish Bay Farm Gallery also exhibits photography by Daniel Anderson, Tom Bast, Hank Erdmann, Ashley Viste, and Gale Wandke; oil painting by David Lupes; watercolor painting by Caitlin Leline; pottery by Susan Galloway; wood turning by Guenter Petermann and Ralph Pipp; jewelry by Jennifer Dahl; and fiber work by Nora Ahlen, Laurie Boyer, Julie Guilette, Virginia Killough, Jodi Milske, and Christopher Vuco.
