Photography Demonstration in the Garden

Blue Dolphin House and BDH Studio are pleased to have Joe Falout as part of the Afternoon with the Artist Series on Saturday, July 11, 1 – 3 pm, in the gardens on the grounds of the Ephraim gallery. The Afternoon with the Artist demonstrations and exhibitions are open to the public and free of charge.

Falout, previously a dedicated chemical darkroom black and white photographer, has expanded his vision and now embraces the digital photography world with great enthusiasm. He will show recent original work – both fine art black and white and “fun” images from camera club competitions – and assist others in creating “artsy” renditions from their own digital images.

Individuals are encouraged to bring digital photograph files (jpeg or tiff format on a flash drive, SD, XD, Compact Flash or Smart Media card) to experiment with in the gardens. Falout will work on his laptop to show individuals how to achieve their goal in a simple manner, ultimately, creating and having fun with digital photography.

Falout has been involved with photography since 1980, beginning as a hobbyist producing color slides for Chicago area camera club competitions. He began doing black and white darkroom work in 1983 and soon became totally committed to the creative aspects of fine art printing. Falout also uses digital cameras, utilizing this expanding technology to create art. His photographic palette covers a wide variety of materials and techniques.
