Pi Day Hike, Bluebird Nest Box Workshop at The Ridges

The March schedule at The Ridges is full of programs and activities guaranteed to cure spring fever.

The annual Bluebird Nest Box Workshop at The Ridges is a sure sign that winter is on the wane. Bluebirds will return to Door County soon, but in some areas, they may have trouble finding homes. You’ll learn how to help bluebirds and also build a nesting box for your own yard on March 12. Workshops will be held at 10 am and 2 pm at The Ridges Workshop, 8288 County Q in Baileys Harbor. The workshop fee is $10 per adult for Ridges members, $13 per adult for the general public and $5 per child. Materials for one bluebird box are included in the fee. Additional kits are available for $5 each.

On March 14 at 7 pm, join a Ridges naturalist for a Pi Day Hike in celebration of this essential mathematical constant. This will be a lighthearted celebration of math with some fun facts, a hike and pie! Adult fees are $10 for Ridges members and $13 for the general public and $5 for children and students under 18.

Work up an appetite with a guided hike over Hidden Brook and through the woods at The Ridges on March 16 at 11:30 am. Afterwards enjoy a box lunch at the Cabins and join in a discussion about winter ecology. Luncheon choices include gourmet sandwiches with sliced turkey or roast beef or a wrap made with seasonal fresh vegetables and hummus. Box Lunch Hike fees are $15 for Ridges members and $18 for the general public and include your lunch selection from Top Shelf Café & Gourmet. Register and make a lunch selection by calling 920.839.2802 by 4 pm no later than March 15.

Both hikes depart from The Ridges Cook-Fuller Center, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor.
