“Pieces for the Puzzle” at Martinez Studio in Door County

Bruce Basch is selecting a mix of emblematic work for his four-day exhibition entitled “Pieces for the Puzzle,” on display at Martinez Studio from July 15 – 18. An artist’s reception will take place on July 17 from 2 – 6 pm.

Though the exact make-up of the show won’t be determined until the installation is complete, Basch envisions a mix of painting, collage, and sculpture. It will be a “first-time-out-of-the-box” debut for the majority of the work, augmented with a few favorites from his vast vault.

Basch holds a MFA degree in painting from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Found objects and other re-purposed materials serve as primary incitements for producing many of his pieces.

“I don’t paint pictures, I make visual objects,” he said.

Basch is looking forward to a complementary and contrasting installation of his work in the Martinez Studio, which celebrates its own wide range of abstraction in paintings and tapestries and representation in Wence Martinez’s photography.

Basch’s art has been featured in a number of Door County venues including Gills Rock Stoneware, The Potters Wheel, The Hardy, and LeRoy’s Coffee Bar. Other Wisconsin exhibition high points include the Madison Art Center and The Milwaukee Art Museum.

Martinez Studio, open 10 am – 5 pm daily, is located 1 mile south of Jacksonport on Hwy 57 open 10-5 daily. For more information call 920.823.2154 or visit http://www.martinezstudio.com.
