Pioneer Spikers Down Eagles in Packerland Matchup

Sevastopol’s girls volleyball team won its first Packerland Conference match of the season Thursday in four sets at Southern Door, 25-12, 23-25, 25-23, 28-26.
The Pioneers dominated the match early on. After winning the first set by 13 points, they held a 15-5 lead early in the second set before the Eagles called timeout and regrouped. Southern Door then closed out the second set, the only one it won, by outscoring Sevastopol, 20-8.
The rest of the match remained competitive with the Pioneers winning the final two sets by two points each and needing more than 25 points in the fourth set to avoid going to a fifth and deciding set.

Clippers Sweep Bulldogs
In other Packerland volleyball action Thursday, Sturgeon Bay swept Peshtigo in three sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-14.
The Clippers’ statistical leaders included: Milan Eliyha, three aces and 18 assists; Nida Zukauskaite, 21 kills, seven digs, and two aces; and Chloe Maccaux, 16 digs and three aces.
Vikings Swept by Blazers
Gibraltar lost its conference opener Thursday to NEW Lutheran, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.
