Pioneers, Clippers Record Boys Hoops Wins

Sevastopol’s boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Monday with a 58-51 non-conference victory at Wausaukee.

The Pioneers had three players score in double figures. Cesar Sandoval tallied 17 points, followed by Lucas Delsart with 14 and Nick Peterson scoring 10 more. Sandoval and Delsart made three 3-pointers apiece.

Sevastopol, 1-1 overall, opens Packerland Conference play Thursday at Peshtigo.

Sturgeon Bay Defeats Coleman

First-year head coach Rodney Owens recorded his first victory in charge of Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team when the Clippers won their Packerland/M&O Conference Challenge Tournament game on Saturday against Coleman, 55-47.

Sturgeon Bay, which led by 11 points at halftime, was paced by Isaak Aune with a game-high 24 points.

Up next for the Clippers (1-2) is their conference opener Thursday at NEW Lutheran.
