Pioneers Top Eagles in Girls Hoops

Sevastopol’s girls basketball team remained undefeated Thursday when the Pioneers won their Packerland Conference contest at Southern Door, 53-51.

Sevastopol, which overcame a 29-28 halftime deficit, was led in scoring by Bailey Rikkola with a game-high 19 points, which included three 3-pointers. Naomi Rikkola added 12 points with Kayla Ranly scoring 11 more.

The Eagles also had three players score in double figures. Payton Gilbertson and Ashlyn Delfosse tallied 15 points apiece with each making three 3-pointers. Allianna Dufek added 14 points.

The Pioneers, who improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, next host Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday.

Southern Door (3-4, 0-3) next hosts a non-conference game Monday against Seymour before its next league game Dec. 16 at Sturgeon Bay.

Blazers Rally Late to Defeat Vikings

After trailing 26-16 at halftime Thursday, Gibraltar’s girls basketball team tied NEW Lutheran at 33-33 with about a minute and a half left in the second half, before the Blazers scored the final 10 points and defeated the Vikings at home, 43-33.

Mikala Gorham led Gibraltar with 13 points. Andie Schar and Krista Church both added six points.

NEW Lutheran, which scored all its points inside the 3-point arc or from the free-throw line, was led by Ebony Sinclair and Sigried Beaumont with 13 points apiece.

The Vikings (0-4, 0-2) next host a non-conference game Saturday against Laona-Wabeno before returning to conference action Tuesday at Oconto.  

Peshtigo Pummels Clippers

Sturgeon Bay’s girls basketball team lost Thursday at home to Peshtigo, 71-29.

The Clippers were led in scoring by senior Autumn Rass with 13 points. Sophomore Dasha Yeltysheva added 10 points, and freshman Regan Kasten hauled in 12 rebounds and had three steals.

Sturgeon Bay (1-5, 0-3) plays a non-conference game Friday at Gillett before the next conference contest Tuesday at Sevastopol.
