‘Plain, Plains and Planes’ on Display at Hope United

Vast Midwestern plains, Washington Island’s fly-in fish boils, airport barbecue competitions and planes zipping down Green Bay are some of Martha Wagner’s favorite sights. Combining them with the modernist’s love of simplicity and two-dimensional planes gave her upcoming exhibit at Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay the title Plain, Plains and Planes.

Many of Wagner’s teachers had Bauhaus roots, so her paintings are tightly designed, focusing on the art principle of unity. She also took inspiration from the Baha’i faith.

Wagner is pleased to exhibit at the Hope United because her grandmother joined the church in 1888 and was a member until her death in 1958. The public is welcome to view the exhibit from April 14 through May 4, 9 am – 1 pm. To arrange a private showing, call the church at 920.743.2701.
