Play in Sheepshead Tournament to Raise Funds for Tree Plantings

The Forest Recovery Project is once again hosting a tree planting fundraiser in the form of a sheepshead tournament at Door County Brewing Company in Baileys Harbor. Cards for Trees is scheduled for March 20 at 1 pm. This event is raising money to buy trees for a collaborative “Dig Door County” public tree planting that will take place during Earth Week this year.

The tournament entry fee is $10. Winner receives a case of beer and sweatshirt from the DC Brewing Company and the adoration of local sheepshead fans. Tournament format will be influenced by public input. As sheepshead is a multifaceted game with numerous variants, the dealer will call the game. Bring your favorite version and challenge your fellow card players.

All money raised will buy native trees for the Dig Door County tree planting efforts on pubic lands in Door County during Earth Week 2016. Tree seedlings average less than a dollar each, so small investments can supply a lot of trees.

The Forest Recovery Project is a 501c.3 charity that began as a way to assist the people of the Door Peninsula care for and enhance public forest ecosystems. For more information or to volunteer with the Forest Recovery Project, contact Bob Bultman at 920.421.2283.
