Third Avenue Playhouse is offering another exciting educational experience for adults, Adult Playwriting Lab. This lab is open to people with all levels of talent and experience. It takes place June 20 – July 28, and will be taught by Paulette Laufer and Richard Carroll Carlson. Enrollment is now open.
Playwriting Lab will explore what goes into writing a play. Participants will focus on creating compelling characters and a dramatic structure, and experience firsthand how setting, dialogue and elements of theatricality also act as key ingredients. In class, hands-on exercises geared toward lively discussions are designed to spark out-of-class writing while building a 10-minute or short one-act play. The final sessions will culminate in readings of participants’ plays.
Laufer and Carlson each hold an M.F.A. degree in Dramatic Art from the University of Iowa. They are recent newcomers to Door County and live in Sturgeon Bay.
This Lab will meet at the TAP offices Mondays and Thursdays 5 – 7 pm beginning June 20. If a student is unable to make all of the sessions they are still encouraged to take this lab. The cost for the class is $100 for the 12 sessions. Call 920.743.1760 to register.
