Plaza Project Proceeding

Sturgeon Bay – The three-story Plaza project being planned for the West Waterfront by One Barrel Brewing owners Jennifer and Peter Gentry has made additional steps forward toward development.

First, the Sturgeon Bay Aesthetic Design and Site Plan Review Board approved the design and materials last month for the proposed building at 100 E. Maple St. Architect Doug Pahl of Aro Eberle Architects said the industrial-design look of the building was created to match the surrounding businesses and the Granary design plans. The building will have a metal roof, and the main exterior material will be corrugated metal siding in either slate gray or metallic zinc colors. Part of the building will also include vertical cedar siding finished with an earth-tone color.

Second, the Sturgeon Bay Plan Commission granted a zero setback on the building’s east lot line. The setback, at only one corner of the building, will enable the owners to widen the building to meet ADA requirements and accommodate an elevator. All three levels of the building will be accessible by elevator, with a possible deli on the first floor and housing on the second floor.

Finally, the Common Council approved a development agreement for the property, with the addition of a license for food vendors. The terms were discussed during a closed session.
