PLEIN AIR CLASS AT ISLAND’S ART & NATURE CENTER

The Washington Island Art & Nature Center will host a three-day plein air art class with Doug Clarke, who will discuss his method of working small to develop skill sets quickly, the necessity of being ready to paint at a moment’s notice, and how to take a fresh look at the plein air approach and tradition. Most of all, this workshop will be about how to develop your own voice as a painter.

Clarke is a plein air and studio painter in Virginia Beach whose work has evolved from commercial to fine art, with oils as his preferred medium. He’s also an active member of the Norfolk Drawing Group.

The class will meet July 6-8, 9:30 am – 1 pm, and a critique will be held July 10, 1 pm, at the Art & Nature Center, where Clarke will provide feedback and tips for improvement. The cost is $275. Learn more at anc.org or by calling Laura Waldron at 920.535.0554.
