The Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek has welcomed 43 nationally recognized plein air painters to capture the beauty of Door County on canvas during the fifth annual Door County Plein Air Festival.

Painting venues will be easily accessible to the public, offering many opportunities for people to speak to the artists and view the creation of paintings from start to finish.

The Quick Paint will be held on July 23 from 9 – 11 am. Featured artists’ paintings will be completed in less than two hours and sold at an auction in Clark Park in Fish Creek. For a $5 fee, a young artist will receive materials to create a plein air painting of their own.

A Palette Pass will provide an opportunity for art appreciators to take in all of the private events of the festival, including the Collector’s Preview cocktail party on July 22.

A free public opening reception on July 23 will conclude the artists’ events of the festival. The works will be on display in Peninsula School of Art’s Guenzel Gallery for public viewing and purchase through August 13.

Among the award-winning plein air painters new to the festival this year are Frank LaLumia, Lynn Dunbar, and Frank Gardner. Returning featured artists include Colin Page, Shawn Cornell James Richards, Tom Nachreiner, Dawn Whitelaw, and Marc Hanson.
