Plein Air Pastels and Acrylics Featured at UUF

Madonna Siles is the featured artist at the UU Gallery in Ephraim in November. She’s an expressionistic plein air painter who endeavors to capture the dynamic energy and light of favorite Midwest sights – especially Door County – in her colorful oil pastel and acrylic paintings.

She has studied with Chicago watercolorist Tom Lynch, Sedona plein air pastel artist Susan Faust, and with pastel artist and plein air painter Emmett Johns.

Her artwork has been included in juried exhibits at the Miller Art Museum and The Hardy Gallery in Door County, Rahr West Art Museum in Manitowoc, and the Water’s Edge Artists’ art calendars for the Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership.

A retired marketing communications specialist, she has a B.S. in Communications from the University of Illinois. Siles is a member of The Hardy and Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay Artists Group and the Door County Art League. She is co-publicity chair for the Water’s Edge Artists, a northeast Wisconsin plein air group that paints to encourage preservation of historic/cultural sites and endangered places.

Siles’ paintings are on display at Gwendolyn’s Jewelry & Gallery and Alley Katz Boutique in Sturgeon Bay. Paintings can be viewed at FineArtAmerica.com/profiles/madonna-siles.html where giclee prints are available.

The UU Gallery is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. Gallery hours are 1 – 3 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 11 am – 12:30 pm Sunday; and by appointment at 920.854.7559.
