Plenty of Spooks, Scares in Southern Door

The Haunted Mansion, located at Quietwoods South Camping Resort in Brussels, returns for its 13th year of terror Oct. 5-6.

With four attractions, The Haunted Mansion offers heart-pounding, bone-chilling scares. Ramble through the dark corn maze and haunted trail, where terrifying creatures live. Be careful not to disturb the walking dead deep in the middle of the dark woods and rancid swamp, and even more fear awaits visitors on the haunted bus ride to the mansion. Every year volunteers from Southern Door Schools work to bring new scares to the mansion.

For eight years in a row the Haunted Mansion has been voted Fan Favorite Haunted Attraction in the Northeast Region by hauntedwisconsin.com. The Haunted Mansion volunteers were also recognized as the 2015 recipient of the large group Golden Heart Award for Volunteerism.

Last year’s season brought in a record attendance of more than 5,800 guests and involved a record number of 570 volunteers totaling 8,168 hours of service. This group of dedicated students and community members of all ages assisted with construction, painting, costumes, props, acting, make-up, security, concessions, special effects and publicity.

This year the Haunted Mansion is open Oct. 5-6, Oct. 12-13, Oct. 19-20, and Oct. 26-27. Proceeds support academics, arts, athletics and enrichment activities at Southern Door Schools.

The box office is open 6:30-10 pm Friday and 4:30-10pm Saturday. The mansion opens at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday. A special lights-up session will be held every Saturday 4:30-5:30 pm for younger children or adults who don’t like lots of spooks.

General admission is $13 and RIP admission (allows visitors to skip to front of the line) is $25. The Haunted Mansion is located at 9245 Lovers Lane, Brussels. For more information visit hauntedmansionsoutherndoor.com.
