Ploor Earns PMF’s Verheyden Memorial Scholarship

Recent Sevastopol High School graduate Mya Ploor is this year’s recipient of the Peninsula Music Festival’s George Verheyden Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Luther College in the fall to pursue a double major in music performance and music education.

Ploor maintained an impressive academic record throughout high school and plays more than 20 instruments. Beyond her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in instrumental music or music education so that she can teach at the university level.

Each year, the Peninsula Music Festival awards a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who wishes to further her or his education in music. The recipient must be an outstanding music student who has demonstrated ability as a performer and shown a sustained interest in music-related activities.
