Poetry of Place: a Photographic Experience at Bjِrklunden

From Oct. 6 – 11, Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden offers the seminar “Poetry of Place: a photographic experience” with Suzanne Rose.

This full-immersion photographic seminar is an opportunity for participants to look closely at their own creativity and to find a fresh approach to express their artistic voice through images. Participants will experience the power of making images that are visual poetry, silent, hushed and profound and will draw on light, texture and shape to compose their poetic visual vernacular. Be it with man-made or natural subjects, participants will discover the power of symbols and metaphor found in the written word and will exchange verbal articulation with the fine art of making an expressive photograph.

This challenging and intense seminar is open to novice through experienced photographers but is best suited for individuals looking to expand their photographic creativity and vision through the creation of a body of work that has a deeper sense of personal expression and emotional connection.

Rose is an award winning, nationally recognized photographer that has resided fulltime in Door County since 1994. Educated at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Rose brings her expertise to this experience sharing her passion for the art and craft of fine art photography.
