Poor Prize for Putrid Poetry Contest Videos Released

Death’s Door Knockers, Door County’s resident improv company, has released the videos for the Poor Prize for Putrid Poetry Contest, created to celebrate the plethora of poor poems pouring from the county’s preponderance of poets.

After receiving some submissions, the folks at Death’s Door Knockers welcomed special guest readers Rolf Johnson of Al Johnson’s; raconteur Bob Kohout; noted poet J. Penman Lowe-Raitt; and AJ Frank of Door County Trolley for a video-recording brunch. After mere moments of work, the Poor Prize videos are now live at facebook.com/deathdoorknockers and on the Door County Comedy YouTube channel.

Support bad poetry by watching the videos and liking and sharing your favorite. The putrid poem with the most combined likes and shares on both sites will be crowned Door County’s Putrid Poem for 2020, and its author will receive a high-quality clown nose, a handcrafted wooden kazoo from kazoologist Joe Taylor, and the coveted title of Poet Pooreate of Door County. The contest ends March 31; the winner will be announced on Facebook on April Fool’s Day.
