Sarah Mann is featured at Turtle Ridge Gallery after finishing up a week of teaching “Connections and Kinetics” at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek. For more than 20 years Mann has worked as a professional jeweler. She studied jewelry design under Heikki Seppa at Washington University in St. Louis and at the Fuji Studio in Florence.
Mann takes delight in the challenge of transforming a broad inspiration into its fundamental aesthetic elements. She has enthusiastically absorbed the influence of all the places she has lived and inspiring folks she has been fortunate enough to know since her interest in jewelry creation began in her teens. Her jewelry embodies a modernist design sense that is conveyed with both geometric and organic forms.
Her exclusive use of sterling silver sets a tonal limit that is expanded by using surface textures and patina to accentuate depth and variation of the metal.
The Pop-up Shop is open Aug. 25-26, 10 am to 5 pm, with Mann on site Aug. 26. Turtle Ridge Gallery, open daily 10 am to 5 pm, is located at 11736 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay.
