Postcards the Focus of Historical Society Program

The Egg Harbor Historical Society will wrap up its summer series Aug. 19, 3 pm, at the Kress Pavilion with a presentation about Richard Lauder’s DVD program, which uses historic postcards of Egg Harbor.

Lauder, a Sturgeon Bay High School graduate, taught art for more than 30 years and now resides and maintains a working studio in Madison. In the early 1970s, he began collecting postcards of Door County. He now has more than 7,000 from 1905 until the 1930s. Yesteryear’s Egg Harbor is his newest DVD. On it, viewers can see Egg Harbor change and grow from the early 1900s through the 1950s. Lauder presents the postcard images is if you were there, standing in the street and watching it take place. As a fundraiser for the Egg Harbor Historical Society, this DVD will be available for purchase at the Aug. 19 program.
