Potters’ Guild Host Annual Studio Tour

Pottery by Renee Schwaller of Off the Wheel Pottery

Seven Potters’ Guild members will open their studios and galleries for demonstrations, refreshments and a sneak peak at the their newest pieces of pottery on May 5 and 6 from 10 am – 5 pm. Visitors will have a chance to see the inner workings of a potter’s studio and learn about their individual style of creating. Each pottery will have brochures available with a detailed map to help find the other member’s galleries and studios.

The potters in the guild cover a wide range of styles and techniques in porcelain and stoneware clay that is either functional or decorative. They fire with electricity, gas or wood fire and some specialize in raku or pit firing. These potters work in their studios on site, and also represent many other fine artists in their galleries. Any site can be the starting point to visit and see the galleries and speak with the artists.

Participating studios and galleries include Ellison Bay Pottery, Gills Rock Stoneware, Clay Bay Pottery, Ephraim Clayworks, TR Pottery, Off the Wheel Pottery and Plum Bottom Pottery. The addresses can be found in this issue’s Gallery Guide.
