Potters’ Guild Tour Returns May 7-8

The Door County Potters’ Guild will host its annual spring open house and pottery tour May 7-8, 10 am – 5 pm. After working hard all winter producing handmade work, all seven guild members will open their galleries and studios for the first time this season. The tour stretches from Ellison Bay to Sturgeon Bay and is distinctive in that all of the galleries are potter owned, and the studios are all on location.

John Dietrich of Ellison Bay Pottery, and Abe and Ginka Cohn – who owned and operated The Potter’s Wheel in Fish Creek, 1957-2013 – established the Door County Potters’ Guild in 1976. Their mission was to create a community of professional, resident craftspeople making functional and decorative work in clay.

The participating galleries are Ellison Bay Pottery, Lynn’s Pottery, Gills Rock Pottery and Clay Bay Pottery, all in Ellison Bay; TR Pottery in Fish Creek; Off the Wheel Pottery in Egg Harbor; and Lily Bay Pottery in Sturgeon Bay.
