Prestigious Pianist Katie Reimer to Perform at Bjorklunden

Katie Reimer will perform at Bjorklunden in Baileys Harbor on June 21 at 7 pm. Hailed by the New York Times for her “meditative” playing, Reimer is a concert pianist with broad interests as both a soloist and collaborative musician. She has performed in numerous venues nationally and internationally.

Reimer will perform a solo piano recital of works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and Mohammed Fairouz. The first half of the concert will include Fairouz’s Piano Miniatures Nos. 1-6 and Schumann’s Davidsbundlertanze, Op. 6. Following the intermission will be two piano sonatas by Fairouz and Beethoven, a narrative form in which ideas and characters are contrasted and reconciled with each other in the same piece.

Reimer is currently the pianist and executive producer for a commercial recording with Dorian Sono Luminus, featuring solo and chamber music by Mohammed Fairouz. As cofounder of the Mimesis Ensemble, a New York City-based ensemble, she is the artistic and executive director, as well as pianist of the group. She is also a passionate educator with a private piano studio in New York City.

A suggested donation of $20 will be taken at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the commercial recording of Mohammed Fairouz.

The performance will be held in Björklunden’s Vail Hall. Entrance to the Björklunden lodge is located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor, across from Anschutz Plumbing.
