Prince of Peace Hosts “Battle of the Praise Bands” Aug 27

Battle of the Praise Bands is Aug. 27, 6 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. It’ll be a great night to come and enjoy live music from four local church worship teams – First Baptist, Crossroads, Sturgeon Bay Community and Prince of Peace.

The Battle will take place in the sanctuary at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, and Pastor Nancy Bontempo of Friends Community Church will emcee the event. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Desserts and beverages will be available in the on-site coffee house after the event.

The idea for a Battle of the Praise Bands came from a local pastor’s wife, and has since taken on a life of its own, with the enthusiastic participation of other pastors and praise team musicians. The bands have been asked to prepare three songsone contemporary (newer than 2010), one hymn (older than 1900) and one favorite that has no restrictions.

The public is invited to bring a non-perishable food item for the Blessing Box (little free food pantry), but an offering will also be received, with those proceeds supporting a soup-making project that will bring people back together to do good for the community at large.
