Professor Harvey Kaye at Thomas Paine Dinner

Professor Harvey J. Kaye, noted American historian and author, will speak June 4 at the 5th annual Thomas Paine Dinner about his new book, The Fight for Four Freedoms.

His book draws parallels between the current situation in America with the situation U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the country were in, in 1941.

Kaye is currently Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Democracy and Justice Studies at University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. An award-winning author and editor committed to the study of the making of American democracy, Kaye has published 15 books on history, politics and ideas.

The dinner will be held at the Door County Fire Company’s elevator-accessible upper level, 38 South Third Ave., Sturgeon Bay. The social hour begins at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:30 pm. Autographed copies of The Fight for the Four Freedoms will be available for $20. The dinner costs $27.50 for early reservation with check sent to DPDC, PO Box 863, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235 by May 28; the cost is $30 after May 28 or at the door.
