Programs at the Crossroads

On July 9 at 6 pm, the public is welcome to an informational meeting regarding Beech Bark disease. Representatives of the Wisconsin DNR will present a program about this new threat to Door County Forests. The event is free and takes place at the Collins Learning Center.

On July 11 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, the Door County Historical Society will open the Blacksmith Shop. Several volunteer blacksmiths will demonstrate their skill, fashioning useful items at the forge. Visitors are encouraged to watch the process and may purchase items they have seen created.

On July 12 at 11 am, the public is welcome to a school day in 1900. Participants will enjoy lessons at the Vignes School in The Historical Village.

On July 13 at 11 am, participants are welcome to hike while finding butterflies and caterpillars. This family program is free and begins at the Collins Learning Center.

On July 14 at 11 am, the public is welcome to visit the Green General Store in the Historical Village and learn from a storekeeper about a country store and garden of 1900.

On July 15 at 1:15 pm, the public is welcome to meet and greet the Door County Invasive Species Team. The team will host various contractors at the July meeting to give landowners the opportunity to learn about what local businesses can provide for noxious weed control. Snacks are provided. The event is free and will take place at the Collins Learning Center.

During July, both the Historical Village and the Collins Learning Center will be open to the public from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, Sunday through Thursday.
