From a field of over 120 artists participating in the 10th annual Guenzel Gallery Salon, three were chosen as the People’s Choice Award winners during the Salon party on Jan. 21 at Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek. The voting was based on the body of an artist’s work on display rather then an individual piece. All attending the free public party were invited to submit a single ballot.
Susan Hoffmann of Oshkosh received the first place $250 People’s Choice Award for her fabric collage landscapes. This is the second consecutive year that Hoffman has won the top award for the salon exhibition.
Second place and $150 was awarded to Anthony Beadell of Mequon for his oil portraits. Green Bay oil painter, Sally Berner, who entered both a landscape and portrait of a longhorn calf, received the third place People’s Choice Award of $100.
Peninsula School of Art is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts through education, exhibitions and community outreach. Peninsula School of Art and Guenzel Gallery, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 am – 5 pm, are located at 3900 County Hwy F in Fish Creek.
